Worcester Bosch Fault Code E9 – Causes & Fixes in Glasgow & Surrounding Areas

Is your Worcester Bosch boiler showing the E9 fault code? This error means your boiler has overheated or detected a heat exchanger issue, which can shut down the system for safety reasons. If you’re in Glasgow, Bearsden, Milngavie, Clydebank, Anniesland, Knightswood, Scotstoun, or Yoker, we can get it fixed—fast!

---

What Causes the E9 Error?

🔹 Low Water Pressure – If there’s not enough water circulating, the boiler can overheat.

🔹 Blocked Heat Exchanger – Limescale and sludge build-up can cause overheating and efficiency loss.

🔹 Faulty Pump – If the pump isn’t moving water properly, heat builds up too quickly.

🔹 Trapped Air in the System – Air pockets can prevent water from circulating, leading to overheating.

🔹 Temperature Sensor Fault – A failing sensor may incorrectly trigger the overheat protection.

---

How to Fix the E9 Fault Code

✅ Check the Boiler Pressure – If it’s below 1.0 bar, use the filling loop to top it up to 1.2 - 1.5 bar.

✅ Bleed Your Radiators – If air is trapped, releasing it can improve circulation.

✅ Reset the Boiler – Hold the reset button for 5 seconds and restart the system.

✅ Still Not Working? – A Gas Safe engineer may need to flush the system, clean the heat exchanger, or repair the pump.
